living man is Tom Leppard of the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He has chosen a
leopard skin design, with all the skin between the dark spots tattooed
safron yellow. The area of his body covered is 99.2 percent.
The person with the most individual designs is Bernard Moeller of
Pennsylvania, with over 14,000 separate tattoos.
Sailors used to tattoo the fingers of one hand with "Hold" and the
fingers of the other hand with "Fast" to remind themselves about their
grips while swinging in the rigging.
King Harold II of England was tattooed. After the battle of Hastings
in 1066, King Harold's body was reportedly identified by a tattoo over
his heart which read "Edith".
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest tattoo
session lasted for thirty-three hours and was completed by Chris Goodwill
(UK), who tattooed Kevin Budden (UK) at the Electric Pencil Tattoo
Studio, Plumstead, Greater London, UK, on April 12-13, 2003. Eight designs
were tattooed onto Budden's body during the attempt.
